Biography

Tyler A. Bauer, LCPC, is a senior vice president of clinical operations at NorthShore University HealthSystem. He is an executive leader in the Medical Group, a multispecialty group practice comprised of 950 primary and specialty physicians, spanning more than 50 specialty services and 140 locations through the Chicagoland area. His role in the Medical Group includes overall operational responsibility for the immediate care, primary care and virtual care clinical service lines, including 20 immediate care sites and 52 primary care practice locations. His scope includes collaborating with approximately 300 physicians and 700 clinical and operational staff. Bauer has been instrumental in advancing NorthShore’s primary care efforts by integrating genetics and personalized medicine tools into patient care plans to help physicians more precisely guide a patient’s medical management. Additionally, he has led the expansion of NorthShore’s immediate care sites, including a three-year plan to open 24 new sites.
 
Prior to his current position, Bauer was the assistant vice president for the three NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Centers and Medical Group oncology-related physician practices, the cancer registry, and oncology research. He also served as the director of operations for several medical specialties (including dermatology, endocrinology, rheumatology, pulmonary, infectious disease and psychiatry) within the NorthShore Medical Group. His background also includes management and leadership roles at several Chicago-area healthcare institutions.
 
Bauer is an ACHE member and a former Thomas C. Dolan Executive Diversity Program Scholar. He was also named one of Crain’s Chicago Business Notable LGBTQ Executives in 2020. Bauer is an executive co-sponsor of NorthShore’s LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee and a guest lecturer for Rush University’s Health System Management Master’s Program.
 
Bauer has maintained his license as a clinical professional counselor and, when practicing, he provided therapeutic services to children and adolescents and their families, as well as crisis intervention and assessment.
 
He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, his master’s degree in clinical psychology from Wheaton College Graduate School and his MBA from National Louis University.
