Biography
Rod Hanners is CEO of Keck Medicine of USC. He is responsible for oversight of the university’s clinical activities, including Keck Medical Center of USC, which consists of two acute care hospitals, a community hospital, and more than 40 outpatient facilities from Bakersfield to Newport Beach and Las Vegas. Mr. Hanners is known for promoting a culture of trust and teamwork as well as focusing on organizational wellness through the health system’s unique and comprehensive Care for the Caregiver program, designed to ease workplace stress and build staff resiliency. He helped lead Keck Medical Center to rank among the top 50 hospitals in the country in 12 medical specialties in the 2021–2022 U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals” rankings. He was named Hospital CEO of the Year by the Los Angeles Business Journal in 2020 and received the 2020 Leadership in Healthcare Award from National Medical Fellowships.
Prior to joining Keck Medicine, Mr. Hanners served in leadership positions at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Kaiser Permanente health system. He is also a former naval officer in the United States Submarine Force. A native Californian, he enjoys beach activities, sports and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
