Biography

Laura Robertson, FACHE, is the CEO for Banner Desert Medical Center and Cardon Children’s Medical Center, Mesa, Ariz.

She also serves on the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 48,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. With comprehensive programs in credentialing, education, career counseling, publications and research, ACHE works toward its goal of being the preeminent professional society for leaders dedicated to improving health.

Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Ms. Robertson served as the ACHE Regent for Arizona from 2014 to 2017, on the board of the ACHE chapter Arizona Healthcare Executives from 2011 to 2017, and has served on several ACHE committees. Additionally, Ms. Robertson serves as an ACHE mentor and as ACHE’s Higher Education Network representative to Arizona State University, the University of Arizona, Grand Canyon University and the University of Phoenix, where she regularly presents to graduate healthcare management students and early careerists.

Ms. Robertson began her healthcare career as a nurse in 1988 at Banner–University Medical Center Phoenix, formerly Good Samaritan Medical Center. She has served in various leadership roles throughout her tenure at Banner Health including CNO and CEO of Banner Heart Hospital, and CEO of the Banner Baywood Medical Center campus, comprised of Banner Baywood Medical Center and Banner Heart Hospital. In 2015, Ms. Robertson was named CEO of Banner Desert Medical Center and in 2017, she also was named CEO of Cardon Children’s Medical Center, all located in Mesa, Ariz.

Ms. Robertson’s expertise in leading organizational change and improvement is exemplified in her organization’s financial performance, implementation of key growth and outreach initiatives and the development of nationally recognized clinical programs at both the hospital and health system level.

In addition to her service to ACHE, Ms. Robertson is affiliated with several national and regional organizations, including the American Heart Association, Tempe Chamber of Commerce, National Charity League and Tempe Sister Cities. She currently serves on the board of Mesa United Way.

She received the AZ Business Healthcare Executive Leadership Award in 2013.

Ms. Robertson received a Master of Business Administration in healthcare management from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the College of Nursing, University of Arizona, in Tucson.
