Biography
Marty Martin serves as professor in the Driehaus College of Business at DePaul University. In this role, he has launched several graduate degree programs, from a Master of Business Administration/Master of Science degree program with Rush University to a Master of Science degree program in health informatics. Dr. Martin has written more than 100 refereed journal articles and two books. His scholarly work has been featured by USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post. Prior to this role, he served as director of diversity at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and later as senior executive for institutional diversity at DePaul University. Earlier in his career, Dr. Martin worked at AT&T in health affairs, at The National Institutes of Health and at Tulane University Hospital & Clinic. He continues to focus on diversity, equity and inclusion but with an emphasis on anti-racism and implicit bias coaching and training. Dr. Martin currently serves on several boards, including the Center for Health Innovation, and is involved in the digital health startup ecosystem in Chicago. In 2019, he launched his own digital sleep health platform. Dr. Martin also coaches clients on practicing mindful leadership, achieving performance optimization by syncing their schedule with their chronotype, and managing internal and external distractions. As a coach, he draws on both his knowledge and skills as a licensed clinical psychologist and advanced training in sports and performance psychology.
