Biography
Paula L. Stamps, PhD, is a professor in the Community Health Studies Department within the School of Public Health and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Most of her research has been devoted to understanding what provides satisfaction to direct care providers in healthcare organizations, with a special emphasis on nurses. She has also spent several years studying levels of physician satisfaction, resulting in the publication of a book on this topic. Dr. Stamps is the author of a previous book on the evaluation of ambulatory care, as well as many articles in the fields of program evaluation, family medicine, and patient satisfaction. She teaches in the areas of evaluation, research methods, bioethics, and medical care organization. Her Ph.D. is from the School of Public Health at the University of Oklahoma.
