Kristy K. Ward, MD, MAS

Biography
Dr. Kristy Ward is a highly accomplished surgeon, educator and researcher specializing in gynecologic oncology. Currently serving as an associate professor and director of Gynecologic Oncology at West Virginia University (WVU), she also leads initiatives as chair of both the West Virginia University System-Wide Surgical Robotics Committee and the Ruby Memorial Hospital (RMH) Robotics Steering Committee.
Dr. Ward's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Southwestern University, followed by earning her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Her postgraduate training includes a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a postdoctoral fellowship in women's reproductive health at University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston. She further honed her in gynecologic oncology fellowship at the University of California San Diego while earning a Master of Advanced Study in clinical research.
Committed to advancing healthcare for underserved populations and improving surgical quality, Dr. Ward believes increasing access to robotic surgery for patients and for surgeons with help achieve these goals. Through her work with the WVU and the RMH robotics committees, she hopes to bring state of the art surgery closer to home for the residents of West Virginia.
