Biography
Hardeep Singh, MD,is professor of medicine, Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness and Safety, Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center/Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. He leads a portfolio of multidisciplinary quality and safety research focused on measurement and reduction of medical errors, improving the use of health information technology and health system transformation. His research has informed several national and international patient safety initiatives and policy reports, including those by the Centers for Disease Control, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the World Health Organization. He represents the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs on the National Academy of Medicine’s Climate Collaborative and has proposed several system-level approaches and strategies related to decarbonization of healthcare delivery.
He co-chaired the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality/Institute for Healthcare Improvement Technical Expert Panel that developed “Reducing Healthcare Carbon Emissions: A Primer on Measures and Actions for Healthcare Organizations to Mitigate Climate Change.” He is serving on the Executive Committee of the newly launched Lancet Planetary Health Commission on Sustainable Healthcare, where he also co-leads the Environmental Performance and Quality Measures Working Group.
