Biography
Dr. Andrew H. Rice is a podiatric surgeon, clinical research scientist, entrepreneur, academic physician and physician executive leader. He currently holds the title of associate professor of surgery at the University of Arizona Tucson and immediate past co-director of the Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA), division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. Dr. Rice has more than 38 years of experience in mentoring physicians, medical students, surgical residents encouraging physicians to join clinical research and remains actively involved in academia sits for the Investigational Review Board of the University of Arizona Medical School. Initially founding a research arm of his private business, Dr. Rice has been principal investigator in 20 clinical trials, more recently bringing his clinical trials to assist health care systems gain recognition in clinical research and assist institutions in gaining grant revenue.
Additionally, in 1996, Dr. Rice and colleagues founded and was chairman of a management services organization (MSO) MEDSOLVE, which provided back-office services to physicians in the northeast. Even though the MSO concept was a novel business for its time, Dr. Rice realized rapid growth but venture infused startup capital was limited due to internet speed (point to point fractional T1 communication lines) and bandwidth of communication of the time. Ultimately, the business closed during the market and initial internet bubble fall of 2007.
Dr. Rice continues to focus his career as a research leader and senior physician executive and most recently as chief physician at Billings Clinic Bozeman, Montana.
