Biography

Daniel G. Gessel, is a director of MultiCare’s Pulse Heart Institute Structural Heart Center of Excellence and Cardiothoracic Surgery in Tacoma, Wash. In this role, he directs all business and financial operations for the MultiCare system across the Pacific Northwest. He leads a team of 20 providers and more than 150 indirect teammates to grow market share, maintain operational excellence and increase operational margins across the enterprise.

Mr. Gessel began his healthcare career as an administrative fellow at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa. Upon successful completion of his fellowship, Mr. Gessel went on to serve as a director of operations for Orthopedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Wound Care, Infusion, and Speech and Audiology, also at UPMC Hamot. In that capacity, he led a team of more than 20 physicians and 200 staff across two hospitals to develop strategic plans, improve operational efficiency and advance clinical quality.

He obtained his Master in Health Services Administration degree from the University of Michigan and his bachelor’s degree in public health from Brigham Young University.
