Bruce J. Fried, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research and teaching span the areas of human resources management, quality improvement, the healthcare workforce, international and comparative health systems, and globalization and health. He has coauthored several other books, including Fundamentals of Human Resources in Healthcare (second edition, Health Administration Press, 2018) and World Health Systems: Challenges and Perspectives (second edition, Health Administration Press, 2012). Prior to coming to the University of North Carolina, Dr. Fried was on the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Fried received his master’s degree from the University of Chicago and his PhD in health administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
