Healthcare equality for all people is a guiding principle in the healthcare management profession. This Thursday, join a free webinar to uncover a practical guide to developing whole-system approaches to building radically inclusive values into your organization. A panel of experts from the Cleveland Clinic will share their thoughts, experiences and tactics to help organizations develop more LGBTQ-inclusive workplaces, and they will explain expected organizational behaviors and how caregivers interact with patients, families and visitors. Register today for this webinar, which is worth 1 ACHE Qualified Education credit.
New FACHE® Recertification Deadline Extensions
The recertification deadlines for Fellows whose credential was set to expire last year and this year have been further extended. Fellows whose credential expired in 2019 now have until March 31, 2021, to meet all the requirements to recertify, submit their application and pay the recertification fee. Fellows whose credential is set to expire this year have until Dec. 31, 2021, to complete these three easy steps, which are outlined below:
- Completing continuing education hours—you can now earn ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits through our new Virtual Face-to-Face Courses—or retaking and passing the Board of Governors Exam. To help you complete your recertification, ACHE is extending the availability of Virtual Face-to-Face Courses to June 30, 2021, with the hope that this will allow Fellows who need the required 12 hours of ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits enough time to obtain them.
- Completing four volunteer activities.
- Paying the recertification fee of $200 when you submit your recertification application.
You can learn more about the recertification process by visiting ache.org/FACHE and selecting Maintain/Recertify My FACHE from the menu.
Book: How Leaders Cultivate Partnerships to Drive Value and Transform Health
The shift in focus from healthcare to health requires an ecosystem perspective, according to From Competition to Collaboration: How Leaders Cultivate Partnerships to Drive Value and Transform Health. Furthermore, this shift requires “leaders who see themselves as influencers in the communities in which they serve, where their role is, at a minimum, to bring other sectors together to foster overall health and wellness,” write authors and leadership experts Tracy L. Duberman, PhD, FACHE, and Robert H. Sachs, PhD.
This ACHE Management book explains how healthcare leaders can navigate the difficult issues that arise when multiple organizations from different sectors and with different operating models, objectives and cultures work together toward a shared purpose.

Join Your Global Peers for the IHF Virtual Forum, Earn Continuing Education Hours
This year, the International Hospital Federation will be conducting its first-ever virtual forum “Learning From COVID-19, Transforming Health Services” Nov. 4–5. The forum will offer an opportunity to connect with hospital, healthcare leaders and decision-makers from around the globe; reflect on key learnings from the COVID-19 crisis; and discuss how health services should evolve and move forward. This event is joint accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the Academy of Physician Assistants to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Attendees will have 16 interactive plenary concurrent sessions to choose from, including “Women in Healthcare: Leadership Lessons From the COVID-19 Pandemic,” which will be chaired by Deborah J. Bowen, FACHE, CAE, ACHE president/CEO and president-designate of the IHF Governing Council. ACHE Celebrates National Physician Assistant’s Week
As the healthcare field continues to transition to value-based healthcare, physician assistants and nurse practitioners are playing an increasingly important role in an organization’s success. During the pandemic, PAs have stepped up in major ways, including serving on the front lines of the COVID-19 response, according to the American Academy of PAs. That is why this year’s National PA Week, held each year from Oct. 6–12, was an especially significant opportunity for organizations to celebrate the PA profession.
You can partake in the celebration of these essential healthcare providers, too, by joining a free webinar Oct. 21 that will provide guidelines and tactics in operationalizing and deploying the PA and advanced practice registered nurse workforce during a pandemic. Participants will learn about the financial impact on organizations when these techniques are executed in an efficient manner, and the importance of incorporating the physical and mental well-being of teams while providing quality care during a crisis. Register today for this webinar, which is eligible for 1 ACHE Qualified Education credit.
Together, ACHE and the AAPA have established a learning collaborative to develop and support PAs and NPs through their leadership journeys. Learn more about the ACHE/AAPA Leadership Learning Collaborative.
