Jodie Johnston
System Improvement Leader, Office of Transformation, Indiana University Health

Jodie Johnston is a certified pediatric registered nurse and a process improvement and change management practitioner. She is passionate about delivering safe, high-quality care for patients and team members and leverages her role to impact many more lives than she could single-handedly at the bedside. Before her nursing career, Johnston worked in the automobile industry, where she grew deep roots in LEAN process improvement and change management. Her 25 years of combined healthcare and automotive experience have resulted in multiple successful transformational initiatives ranging from single process improvements to processes scalable across Indiana’s largest healthcare system. Johnston is the co-author of Improving Efficiency: New Approaches to Quality Improvement and Foundations of Clinical Nurse Specialist Practice. She is also an Indiana Healthcare Leadership Academy graduate, Key Contributor Award recipient and valedictorian of her nursing class.
