The Role of Hospitals and Health Systems in Gun Violence Prevention
Due to its significant increase over the last several years, gun violence is now being recognized as a public health crisis by many organizations and health systems. In addition, social determinants of health and the cycle of gun violence are inextricably linked, with many of the communities experiencing higher rates of firearm-related injury and death also disproportionately impacted by other health issues. As a result, providers have a unique and important role to play in gun violence prevention to proactively reduce risk among individuals and within the communities they serve. Recognizing this need, the Gun Violence Prevention Learning Collaborative for Health Systems and Hospitals was formed to create a home for health system leaders, researchers and organizations working to prevent firearm injury and mortality.
Join two of the leading experts in hospital and health system gun violence prevention efforts as they share best practices in preventing firearm injury and death. They will provide guidance for how healthcare executives can advance strategies to interrupt the cycle of gun violence across the spectrum.
