Carey-Ann Burnham, PhD, completed her doctoral degree in medical sciences at the University of Alberta and fellowship training in clinical microbiology at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. Currently, Dr. Burnham is a professor of pathology & immunology, pediatrics, molecular microbiology and medicine, and vice chair for faculty mentoring & advancement. She is the medical director of the system clinical microbiology laboratory at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and the program director for the Medical and Public Health Microbiology Fellowship at Washington University. In 2020, Dr. Burnham received the prestigious ASM Award for Research and Leadership in Microbiology. She has published more than 200 articles about diagnostic and clinical microbiology.
