COL Chani A. Cordero, FACHE, is CIO of Brooke Army Medical Center, a 425-bed medical center and the Department of Defense’s only Level 1 Trauma Center and world-renowned Burn Center. She has executive and technical responsibility for information management support of all clinical and administrative functions.

Throughout her career as a Medical Service Corps officer in the U.S. Army, she has served in various leadership positions. Colonel Cordero worked in operational and healthcare delivery roles in executive management including as a leader in technology. She deployed to Iraq and conducted healthcare operations during the initial campaign. She serves as the health services systems managers consultant to the U.S. Army Surgeon General LTG R. Scott Dingle as the expert in health information technology. 

Colonel Cordero is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a Fellow of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, and a Fellow of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. She received her Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from St. Mary’s University and holds a Master of Education in instructional technology from Troy University and a Master of Healthcare Administration from Baylor University.
