Cybele Pacheco, MD, FAAFP, is a board-certified family medicine physician, currently serving as the director of senior focused care for Geisinger, overseeing the 65 Forward and Life Geisinger programs. Prior to assuming this role, Dr. Pacheco held the role of department director for Geisinger primary care services across three western Pennsylvania counties, and the medical director for quality and innovation in primary care. In these roles, she was directly involved in initiatives and strategies to improve the quality of care delivered to our patients across her department and within community medicine. She received her medical degree from American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, Cupecoy, St. Maarten. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and she received her Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Scranton. She completed both the Partners in Leadership and the E. Allen Deaver programs for high potential leaders within Geisinger in 2017 and 2020, respectively.
Dr. Pacheco has led her department through Geisinger’s primary care redesign efforts and is leading quality improvement work focused on HEDIS metrics across Geisinger’s primary care footprint. Dr Pacheco is also part of the current Geisinger transformation efforts on panel management and advanced practitioner panel sharing.
Dr. Pacheco’s career in medicine has spanned over 20 years, beginning when she graduated from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. After five years on an oncology/stem cell transplant unit, she completed her undergraduate and premedical courses at the College of Mount St. Vincent and Manhattan College in New York and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. Following medical school, Dr. Pacheco completed two years of a general surgery residency at the University of Connecticut, before she realized her true passion was primary care.
