Dr. Keith Shah leads strategy and growth work within Optum Advisory Services. Prior to joining Optum, Dr. Shah served as senior vice president and chief data officer at Prisma Health, an integrated delivery system. Other roles he’s held include senior managing director and chief strategy officer at FTI Consulting in Washington, D.C. He also served 15 years at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, where he was an officer for their Corporate Planning and Strategic Services division. Dr. Shah has extensive experience in operations and financial management, change management, business and organizational development, process improvement, population health and strategic planning. He has experience in both the provider and payer environments.
Dr. Shah retains faculty appointments and teaches a range of graduate courses at The George Washington University and the University of South Carolina. Dr. Shah also previously held positions at Greenville Hospital Systems and Clemson University.
Dr. Shah holds a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University. He also holds a master of arts degree and a master of business administration degree from Clemson University. He holds a PhD in health services policy and economics from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Shah holds the professional distinctions of Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Fellow of the Academy of Healthcare Management, Fellow of the Life Management Institute and Fellow of the Financial Services Institute. Other endeavors have taken him to Duke University, Cornell University, Emory University and the University of Pennsylvania.
