Leader of Leaders: Making the Early Careerist Jump from Manager to Director
What does it take to transition from being a leader of others to being a leader of leaders? That's the question any early careerist looking to take the next step will have to understand and answer. In many organizations and fields, that career progression begins by moving from the manager level to the director level. Too often, the unspoken realities of leading at this next level go unrecognized by those aiming to get there.
Led by two early careerists who have successfully transitioned to director positions, this course will help attendees navigate the realities of what it takes to be a leader of leaders. Using insights from the study of leadership, case studies and personal examples, the instructors will lead attendees through an interactive session that focuses on short-term and long-term objectives: successfully moving from manager to director and effectively leading from your new position.
Expectations grow when we are tasked with leading others who are in leadership positions of their own. That said, it’s important to understand that what makes someone successful in one position might not translate to the next position. This course will empower attendees to rise to the occasion and meet the new demands of executive leadership.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize the key differences between manager and director leadership positions and design a career development plan that prepares one to make the transition.
- Identify and apply practices and strategies to adapt to the director level while supporting long-term growth and effectiveness.
