Women Leading Innovation in Healthcare: Utilizing Technology to Transform the Patient Experience
If more women are in leadership roles, we’ll stop assuming they shouldn’t be, according to Sheryl Sandberg. While the healthcare workforce is 80% women, based on Bureau of Labor Statistics, key leadership roles are predominantly held by men, with fewer than 20% of these held by women. Houston Methodist’s Center for Innovation embraces the changing models of healthcare delivery and seeks to enhance care by championing projects that promote a digital, consumer-centric approach to problem-solving while also acting as a key showcase of Houston Methodist’s dedication to diversity and inclusion, where women lead and act as a driving force behind many innovative ideas and technology initiatives.
Patient and consumer demands continue to shift, and so must we to provide an unparalleled patient experience. We are constantly innovating, working on new project and case studies to reflect our overarching mission of fostering a culture of innovation; establishing an innovative mindset to solve tomorrow's problems; and embracing new technologies to deliver unparalleled safety, quality, service and innovation. Our organization has implemented a variety of technology and digital platforms to improve the overall patient experience, such as automated communication systems, virtual health, patient biometrics tracking and robotic process automation. In this session, three of our female innovators will talk through their journey, describing successful projects, disappointments and lessons learned.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn about our innovation journeys: the successes and failures, what was learned from each of them, and how technology-enabled transformation improved our clinical strategies.
- Learn lessons of leadership and how past experiences shaped the career journey of these successful executives today.
