Executive Leadership: Maintaining Excellence in a Challenging Environment
Change starts with leaders. Whether it’s championing equity, encouraging growth or promoting self-care, leaders are at the head of the charge. In this bundle, presenters will discuss the role of leaders and the importance of intentionality when initiating change, the core elements of strong leadership in a crisis, and approaches for maintaining clinical excellence amid large-scale growth. Lloyd Dean, CEO, CommonSpirit, evaluates the role that individuals play in fostering trust and promoting equity within health systems and communities in “Leadership Insights–Co-opting Change: Impactful Strategies for Fostering Trust and Equity.” Sam Hazen, CEO, HCA Healthcare, and Heather J. Rohan, RN, FACHE, Past Chair, American College of Healthcare Executives, explore how leaders can balance the critical elements of agility and perseverance with the need to model self-care in “Leadership Insights: Leading During Times of Crisis,” and Tomislav Mihaljevic, MD, president/CEO, Cleveland Clinic, discusses the expansion of health systems into global markets, providing strategies to ensure significant growth does not impact quality of care in “Leadership Insights: Scaling for Excellence—Growth in a Global Setting.”
