Advancing Health Equity: Addressing and Combating Disparities in Access and Outcomes
The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the systemic and historical nature of health disparities in access to care and health outcomes across different populations and communities. This bundle examines the role senior leaders play in advancing health equity and provides insight into the challenges that can arise when planning and executing initiatives that affect a broad swath of workforce, governance and community relationships. Leaders of major provider systems will discuss how they are working to eliminate systemic inequities in their organizations and extend those efforts across the communities they serve in “Leadership Insights: Strategies for Combating Health Disparities.” Delvecchio S. Finley, president/CEO, Atrium Health Navicent, and Victoria W. Bayless, CEO, Luminis Health, will consider how senior leaders’ commitment to health equity sets the tone for the entire organization in “Master Series: Masters of Health Equity.” “Women Healthcare Executive Address: Building Trust to Address Disparities in Access and Outcomes” features Denise Brooks-Williams, senior vice president/north market CEO, Henry Ford Health System, sharing how her individual leadership journey has helped her gain the expertise to build the trust and relationships needed to address equity issues in her community.
