Physician Engagement: The Importance of Physician Leadership

March 22, 2021 Recording
3 ACHE Qualifying Education credits

There currently is an increased market demand for experienced physician leaders across all sectors of healthcare. Very few healthcare executives are returning to medical school, but many physicians are becoming executives, joining ACHE, pursuing graduate degrees and sitting for the FACHE® certification. Physicians have always been at the forefront of healthcare; essentially, they are the ones who drive most of the decisions that pertain to care, quality and costs. “Physician Engagement: Needed Now More Than Ever!” and “Engaged Physician Leadership–Current State of Affairs” dive deep into how to enhance engagement among physicians, encouraging them to be involved in the decision-making process—and then detail how to define and measure that engagement—so that organization improvements in safety, quality and efficiency occur. Then, learn to work better together with “Being a Physician Whisperer: Mentoring Your Physician Partners,” which discusses the similarities and differences between differently educated and trained teams and the benefits of developing a plan of action for more robust collaboration.

Learning Objectives:

  • Determine the similarities as well as the differences that exist between differently educated and trained collaborative teams.
  • Develop a plan of action for more robust collaboration between your physician leaders and your non-physician executives.
  • Participants will learn to define, measure and enhance physician engagement through leadership and involvement.
  • Participants will learn the mantra of “Belong, Believe, Build” to get more physicians involved in the decision-making process and enhance engagement levels.
  • Gain valuable insights on how effective physician leadership benefits organizational improvements in quality, safety and efficiency.
  • Obtain insights on current and future trends for improving engagement of the physician workforce within organizational processes of care delivery.
