Disruptive innovators in healthcare are capitalizing on the weaknesses of traditional providers by offering convenient, effective technology at a lower cost. Disruptors provide better access, skim more profitable patients and services, and align with payers while pocketing the savings. Healthcare organizations that recognize some of the associated threats—the loss of medical staff and patients, fragmented strategic relationships and patient care systems that underperform—may underestimate the potential to proactively leverage disruptors to their advantage.
In the initial component of this two-part course, trends and case examples will be presented and course participants will share their experience with emerging disruptive forces (physician, ambulatory, payer and technology/data companies) and anticipate the associated threats and opportunities specific to your workforce and financial, operational and strategic initiatives. In the second segment, the optional paths forward, such as “upping your game” to compete on an even footing and partnering with disruptors, will be discussed. Facilitated dialogue will help participants clarify approaches that are the best fit for their local market and organization.
