Mid-Level Management Positions in Acute Care

Position Titles

Assistant directors and directors of clinical and ancillary services (laboratory and radiology), assistant vice presidents and assistant administrators, vice presidents

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct higher-level executive planning and leading (more line versus staff responsibility).
  • Are directly responsible for accomplishing the organization’s mission and objectives.
  • Manage the budget.
  • Recruit and retain employees.
  • Monitor and manage patient safety and quality of care.

Qualifications

A master’s degree in health administration or a related field and five or more years of work experience are required.

  • Proficiency in human resources management
  • Ability to interact with staff on all levels
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills for planning and coordinating projects
  • Knowledge of team building and evaluation

Salary Range

Salaries for mid-level management positions in acute care typically range from $65,000 to $110,000. However, these figures vary with the amount of organizational revenue.
