Executive Diversity Career Navigator (EDCN) 

Unlike any other career development website, EDCN features the "voice" of diverse healthcare professionals sharing the successful strategies they have learned through their career journeys. See and hear their experiences to help you navigate your own unique career path to professional and personal success. If you wish to contribute to EDCN, please contact diversity@ache.org.

Thomas C. Dolan Executive Diversity Program

During this year-long program, the selected scholars will benefit from specialized curriculum opportunities addressing barriers in career attainment and developing executive presence. The executive level program includes one-on-one interaction with a specially selected mentor, and participation in formal leadership education and career assessments. The application period runs each spring, with the program occurring throughout summer into fall.

Career Accelerator Program

The Career Accelerator Program is designed to support middle management diverse healthcare leaders as they determine the course of their career journey. The six-month virtual cohort includes education and networking to help prepare diverse leaders for higher level roles across the healthcare industry.

Gender and Race/Ethnicity Studies

ACHE conducts cross-sectional studies examining career attainments in healthcare management by gender and race/ethnicity. This page includes an overview of these studies, which have been conducted approximately every six years.  For each study, it features a brief description, executive summary and full text. 

Networking Opportunities

Asian Healthcare Leaders Community

The Asian Healthcare Leaders Community is an ACHE community that is designed to increase the representation—through leadership and professional development—of Asian-Americans in healthcare executive management and to address Asian-American topics in healthcare. The Community offers value-added benefits developed specifically for Asian Healthcare Leaders Community members, including an online discussion forum. This Community is a members-only benefit and open to those that identify as Asian-American and their allies.

The Equity Collaborative  

A diversity partner to ACHE, the Equity Collaborative is an active, self-driven learning community of large, leading healthcare organizations committed to fully inclusive gender equity within their own organizations and across the health industry.

Institute for Diversity and Health Equity (IFDHE)

IFDHE, an affiliate of the American Hospital Association, works closely with health services organizations to advance health equity for all and to expand leadership opportunities for ethnic minorities in health management. It works to promote diversity within health care leadership and tackle health disparities, as they are critical to ensuring the highest quality of care for everyone. IFDHE is one of ACHE’s key partner groups. A key resource provided by IFDHE is the Health Equity Roadmap, included in a national initiative to drive improvement in health outcomes, diversity and inclusion.

LGBTQ+ Healthcare Leaders Community

The LGBTQ+ Healthcare Leaders Community is an ACHE community that focuses on its mission to enhance representation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning healthcare executives and to promote high-quality care for LGBTQ+ individuals and their families. The LGBTQ+ Community offers value-added benefits developed specifically for those individuals interested in the distinct opportunities and issues of LGBTQ+ healthcare executives. The online Community is a members-only benefit and open to those that identify as LGBTQ+ and their allies.

National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE)

NAHSE is a nonprofit association of black healthcare executives founded in 1968 for the purpose of promoting the advancement and development of black healthcare leaders and elevating the quality of healthcare services rendered to minority and under-served communities. NAHSE is one of ACHE’s key diversity partner groups.

National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives (NALHE)

NALHE is a national organization designed to promote health equity for Latino communities by increasing Latinos representation within healthcare systems and by supporting policy, legislation and regulation that seeks to improve health and healthcare for diverse communities. NALHE is one of ACHE’s key diversity partner groups.

Chapters

ACHE has 76 chapters that offer educational programs, local information and networking and volunteer leadership opportunities close to home. ACHE chapters have a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, reflected in diversity statements, committees, and initiatives. Many chapter have volunteer committees and offer education and networking specific to DEI efforts on a local level.

Career Resources

Leadership Mentoring Network

ACHE created the Leadership Mentoring Network to expand opportunities for learning and development exclusively for ACHE members. Mentor-Mentee matching occurs each April and October, and relationships are paired for a six-month time period.
