Manager, Quality Improvement and Clinical Innovation
Spectrum Health, Grand Rapids, Mich.
There are several challenges we face, but I believe the greatest is to guide our organization through the many disrupters facing our industry. We need to foster innovation now and create adaptable organizations to better address the needs of those whom we serve.
Healthcare leaders today must foster strong relationships beyond our own organizations. While we are the providers of healthcare, the health and wellbeing of those we serve depends on community providers and services. It is our duty to facilitate and promote collaboration within this community. Partnerships and alliances with community stakeholders can be leveraged to help facilitate optimal outcomes, reduce redundancies and unnecessary cost and to ensure the highest quality of care.
ACHE has been a proven asset to my healthcare career from the beginning. Through ACHE’s mentorship program, I was fortunate to be paired with a C-suite executive with years of experience in the area of healthcare I was most interested in pursuing. I learned about his career path and benefitted from the wisdom of his experience. Even though our formal mentorship is complete, I will always trust his advice and opinion and value the relationship we built.
One of the aspects I appreciate most about attending ACHE events is the ability to network and learn from others across the care continuum throughout our region. Every aspect of healthcare is moving closer together, whether through consolidation or expanding health networks. Every opportunity to grow and learn from our peers enhances our insight and broadens our perspective.
