ACHE Announces Recipients of Highest Individual Awards

For Immediate Release

CHICAGO, Feb. 6, 2025—The American College of Healthcare Executives announces the following 2025 award winners: James H. Skogsbergh, FACHE, is the recipient of the Gold Medal Award; Pierre Monice, FACHE, is the recipient of the Robert S. Hudgens Memorial Award for Young Healthcare Executive of the Year; and Richard L. Jackson has been selected as an Honorary Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

The Gold Medal Award—ACHE’s highest honor bestowed on outstanding leaders—identifies Fellows of the American College of Healthcare Executives who best exemplify leadership at the organizational, local, state/provincial and national levels. The Gold Medal Award recognizes individuals who go beyond the confines of their own organization to continually contribute to the improvement of healthcare services and community health.

Skogsbergh spent more than 16 years at the helm of Advocate Health Care, including four years leading Advocate Aurora Health and then serving as CEO of Advocate Health, which was created in late 2022 through the combination of Advocate Aurora and Atrium Health. Skogsbergh led Advocate Aurora Health to national renown during his four-year tenure, overseeing $6.8 billion in community benefit spending and $2.6 billion in capital investments across more than 60 projects while adding more than 5,000 new jobs across Illinois and Wisconsin. He retired in 2024.

The Robert S. Hudgens Memorial Award for Young Healthcare Executive of the Year honors outstanding achievement in the field of healthcare management. The award is given to an exceptional healthcare executive who is younger than 40, is a Fellow of ACHE and holds a CEO or COO position in a healthcare organization.

Monice is president of Loyola Medicine/MacNeal Hospital, Berwyn, Ill. He is an active member of the Chicago Healthcare Executive Forum, and in 2025 was elected as an ACHE Regent for Illinois-Metropolitan Chicago. In addition, he is an advisory board member at Governors State University.

Honorary Fellowship is a special category of membership at the American College of Healthcare Executives. It recognizes distinguished leaders who typically do not join ACHE but whose accomplishments have had a beneficial influence on the profession of healthcare management and/or some aspect of public health. This award is not necessarily bestowed every year.

Jackson is founder, chair and CEO of Jackson Healthcare, Alpharetta, Ga., which he launched in 2000 and today is one of the largest U.S. healthcare staffing companies. Over the course of his career, Jackson has been instrumental in conceptualizing and developing more than 30 healthcare companies—staffing companies, surgery centers, practice management companies, clinics and hospitals.

All recipients will receive their award in March during ACHE’s Congress on Healthcare Leadership in Houston.
