Biography
Terri Scannell has 25 years of experience leading corporate social responsibility, organizational sustainability, ESG, impact reporting, tax exempt status and financial management efforts and currently is principal advisor, Sustainability & ESG at OhioHealth. In her previous role, Scannell was senior director, Social Responsibility, ESG, Philanthropy and Community Benefit at Vizient where she led Vizient to sign the 2022 HHS Climate Pledge, created the first Taskforce for Climate-Related Financial Disclosures Issues Brief in healthcare as well as led corporate responsibility, hospital community benefit, decarbonization and sustainability practices.
Scannell serves on the Institute for Healthcare Improvement: Accelerating Decarbonization Advisory Committee member; the Joint Commission-Environmental Sustainability Technical Advisory Panel; and the National Academy of Medicine Action Collaborative on Decarbonizing Committee and is a member of the Technical Expert Panel for Climate and Health hosted by the American Hospital Association. She served on the Culture of Health for Business Taskforce working with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Global Reporting Initiative which received a World Changing Ideas 2020 Award from FastCompany. She is also Chair Elect for the Ohio Hospital Association’s Environmental Leadership Council.
Scannell worked with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) to develop the SASB Standards for Healthcare and is an expert in the Global Reporting Initiative Framework. She participated in the White House Initiative: Greening America’s Hospitals and was selected for Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health’s Executive Education in Sustainability Leadership, as well as Wharton’s Initiative for Global Climate Leadership.
Scannell holds degrees in finance, a Master of Business Administration and a post graduate degree in law (UK).
