Physicians are essential to the success of hospitals and health systems. Whether dealing with employed physicians, independent aligned physicians or a blend of both, a strong physician network drives clinical quality, value-based care success, access and growth.

However, given new competitors and options being offered to physicians, traditional approaches like employment or CIN (Clinically Integrated Network) participation may not suffice. The national shortage of physicians further complicates hospitals' efforts to attract the physicians they need.

This course will describe a process for creating an effective physician network development strategy, from understanding the physician marketplace to selecting the right approaches and structures, gaining organizational commitment and obtaining required financial resources.

Seminar Objectives:

  • Explain how to align independent physicians while allowing them to maintain independence.
  • Discuss strategies to improve the financial performance of hospital-employed physicians.
  • Investigate partnership structures that are more attractive than those offered by private equity and for-profit competitors.
  • Discover how to ensure access despite the national physician shortage.
  • Demonstrate growth, whether measured in covered lives or via market share of services delivered.

Who Should Attend:

Hospital and health system executives responsible for employed physician networks and/or physician alignment strategies, chief medical officers, vice presidents of medical affairs, ACO/CIN executives.
