In 2010, the Institute of Medicine published “The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health,” which includes recommendations for developing a nursing staff that can help lead advances in the nation’s healthcare system. As healthcare executives redesign healthcare systems to meet the demands of reform, they should ensure that nurses are appropriately positioned and engaged in the work of the enterprise.

As the largest group of professionals involved in the delivery of healthcare, nurses on the front lines significantly impact a healthcare organization’s clinical outcomes and patient experience. This webinar will focus on specific strategies proven to engage professional nurses, preparing them to embrace ownership of and assume leadership in the achievement of the strategic priorities of the organization. You will learn to strategically and effectively respond to reimbursement pressure and the imperative to produce exceptional patient outcomes.

You'll Learn:

  • The organizational structure that will best position and engage nurses to achieve the recommendations of the Institute of Medicine report.
  • Specific strategies that will optimize the contribution of nurses in an era of uncertainty and reform.
  • The relationship between nurse staffing, professional practice environments and patient outcomes.
  • To apply the principles of Just Culture to executive decision making.
