Establishing a clinical crisis plan in advance of such a crisis can prepare you for the worst. This webinar combines two programs from the 2012 and 2013 Congress on Healthcare Leadership to present a comprehensive clinical crisis management model. Based on case studies of real clinical crises, this webinar will help you develop a framework for managing clinical crises and creating a sense of urgency around them.

The program also reviews sentinel events as defined by The Joint Commission, along with the recommendations and guidelines for reporting. In addition, you will integrate the concept of the medical apology into the clinical crisis response and establish a formal medical apology program.

You'll Learn:

  • What is meant by a healthcare clinical crisis.
  • To describe the elements of a robust healthcare crisis management program.
  • The importance of communication in a clinical crisis.
  • Two features of clinical crisis management: the Just Culture and the medical apology.
  • To define sentinel events according to The Joint Commission standards.
