Looking to get my career started, but hitting some road blocks.

I have 11+ years of operations management experience, a MBA with a dual emphasis in Healthcare Management and HR Management, and I am a Six Sigma Green Belt.  I have had experience in financial operations, HR, PNLs, logistics, and more.  I have multi-unit operations experience as well as facilities planning/design, construction/project management experience.  I currently work outside of the healthcare industry.  I manage approximately 250+ people.  I have not been able to get past the HR Screening procedures at this point to be considered for positions.  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.  I'm looking into the volunteer aspect now to see if that might help get me started.

It was not clear as to whether any of your experience includes healthcare related settings, but either way you certainly have some good skill sets.  The key, of course is to connect them to the Healthcare arena.  Highlight the healthcare education aspect to the max.  The volunteer idea makes sense as a way to bridge the gap.  Think about how your skills can help a healthcare organization.  If you're competing against those with industry experience, what would you bring that is different and maybe better?  Networking will be vital for you as you may not "look the part" on paper.
