Over Qualified for Jobs in Health Care Due to MHSA Degree?!

I have been in the health care field since I was 16. Since that time, my skills and experience in the field include marketing, physician recruitment, administrative support, research, writing and drafting health care legislation (U.S. Congress). The positions that I have held have been in the form of volunteering, paid summer jobs, and administrative / congressional internships. I graduated with my Masters and Bachelors in Health Services Administration in 2007 and have been trying to obtain a position in a hospital setting ever since. Every time I apply with a facility, I am told by HR that I am over qualified because I went to college and received a Masters. According to HR, I am "too expensive", and I have "too much education to work in a hospital setting". HR refuses to even pass along my applications to the hiring manager because they say my college degrees will "scare them off and they will think I am after their jobs."  The only logical thing I know to do would be to remove my college degrees from my resume. However, HR has told me that I would be deceitful if I removed them. This is obviously a Catch  22. All I am simply trying to get my foot in the door at a facility but I can not due to HR putting up roadblocks.

I am interested in hearing what you all have to say about this. If anybody has any ideas on how I can get around this, please send me an e-mail at mdtaber@mac.com.

    Thanks

    Matthew
