Hospital Pharmacy Waste and RCRA Reqs

Hospital Pharmacy Waste and RCRA Reqs

I'm an MPH management student just starting a summer internship for a 300-bed hospital.  I'm looking at waste management processes in the pharmacy, especially chemo drugs, to determine how they are doing on separating hazardous pharma waste (in accordance with both RCRA requirements and best practices).  I'll also be looking at what's going on in both inpatient and outpatient oncology units, and perhaps broadening this beyond oncology to look at other hazardous drugs.

I've seen the information from PharmEcology and H2E (hospitals for a healthy environment), which both have a lot of useful information.  Has anyone done a similar project or have additional suggestions or reccommendations on what I should be looking at/how I should be going about it?

     Thanks,
