    stuck in a rut

I'm a department director with 8 years experience in a hospital system and would like to move up to a C-suite.  The problem I'm running into, though, is that I have no C-suite experience, which usually kicks me out of contention.  I've passed the FACHE exam and attended Congress this year.  How else can I demonstrate I have the ability to be effective at the next level?  I feel like I'm stuck and cannot advance.

    Re: stuck in a rut

Three ideas to consider. Involvement in your local ACHE chapter can provide networking and leadership opportunities. To locate your chapter simply use the Chapter Directory on ache.org:

    http://www.ache.org/chapters/chapterdirectory.cfm

You could also contact your ACHE Regent to ask if they have appointed a Regent's Advisory Council (RAC). Some Regent's create RACs to help them accomplish their responsibilities. You can locate your Regent via the Leadership page on ache.org:

     http://www.ache.org/LDRSHIP/ldrship.cfm

In August, you might want to follow-up with the Director of ACHE's Career Resources Center: Reed Morton, PhD, FACHE, CJSS. His e-mail address is rmorton@ache.org. He is away until August 1st, however. In the meantime you could review info he has posted in the Career Services area on ache.org:

    http://www.ache.org/career.cfm

If you would like to contact me regarding chapters or the Regent, please feel free to e-mail ne at dryan@ache.org.
