Internship possibilities in New York

    Internship possibilities in New York

    Hello,

    I am a senior graduating with a Bachelor in Health Care Management in May 2010, from a 4 year University in Long Island, New York.  However, as an undergraduate there are little to no internship opportunities in health care management. I have checked with my school's career center and have also looked into local hospitals to see if there were any experience opportunity, but I always end up with nothing. What would you suggest I do?   

    Are there internship possibilities in New York that I am not aware of?

    Your local ACHE chapter  Health Leaders of New York is the right resource for you to contact.  As recently as August, they reportedly had identified potential internship opportunities which were not yet filled.

    Check with the specific department heads in areas you would consider working in.  When I was in NYC - I brought on a number of interns (undergrad and MBA) - all of whom worked out very well.  You are looking to help the leadership that is afraid of tasks left undone due to staffing cuts.  Good luck!
