    Job Oppurtunities/salary negotiations after graduation

I am near the end of my administrative residency which will be the completion of my MHA degree.  I have been offered a job as an operations Analyst at a 600 bed level 1 trauma hospital with many sub specialties. My preceptor asked me about the type of salary I was looking for and I was not sure how to respond.

Can anyone suggest typical salaries for an MHA graduate and what are the most common titles these graduates have held?

    Thank you,

    Alex

    Dear Alex:

Operations analyst falls outside the management postions surveyed in the 2008 resource available to us.  Try going to Salary.com and use the salary wizard on that site.  Plugging in operations analyst and a New York City zip code revealed there are five levels of operations analysts.  You should find the level that best approximates your expereince and credentials and extrapolate from the data you find there.

As these postings are somewhat in the public domain, one ought to take care with the grammar and spelling employed as each communication can work its way into how others might evaluateyour professional image.  Sometimes it is a good idea to go back and review what is posted and attributed to you.

    Mr. Morton

Thank you for your advice and taking your time to look in to my Post.  I appreciate your response and all of your responses to other posts as they have been very informative.

You say operations Analyst falls outside the Management positions surveyed in 2008.  Is an Operations Analyst an uncommon role for an MHA graduate?

I look forward to more of your insight in the future,

     Alex

I think Dr. Morton meant that the typical duties of an Operations Analyst fell outside the duties for management positions with organizations that replied to the ACHE request for salary information in 2008.

    Good luck,
